Christy McDonald – Host
Christy McDonald is an Emmy award winning Detroit TV anchor and reporter. She is known for her live, in-depth reporting on the big stories, from 9/11 in New York to political corruption in the city of Detroit. Currently, Christy anchors special coverage for WTVS Detroit Public TV, including the Mackinac Policy Conference, the national Great Lakes Summit and a town hall special with the Governor. She connected with Detroit viewers for the past 10 years on WXYZ TV, from anchoring breaking news to special events like the Woodward Dream Cruise. She has guest lectured at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan’s journalism classes.
McDonald grew up in Troy and is a graduate of Troy High School. She is also a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a degree in Political Philosophy. She is married to 97.1 WXYT sports talk show host and Freep.com columnist Jamie Samuelsen. Nolan Finley – Contributor
Nolan Finley is Editorial Page Editor of The Detroit News, a position he’s held since May 1, 2000. He directs the expression of the newspaper’s editorial position on various national and local issues, and also writes a column in the Thursday and Sunday newspapers.
Prior to that, Finley was the newspaper’s Deputy Managing Editor, directing the newsroom, and held a variety of other editing positions in the newsroom. He was also a reporter, covering Detroit City Hall during the Coleman Young administration.
Finley has been with the newspaper since 1976, starting as a copy boy while a student at Wayne State University. He is a graduate of both Schoolcraft College in Livonia and Wayne State, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. In 2001. He hosted the Detroit Public TV program Am I Right? for eight years.
He is a 2012 inductee into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame. Finley is a native of Cumberland County, Ky.

Stephen Henderson – Contributor
Stephen Henderson is the Pulitzer Prize winning Editorial Page Editor of The Detroit Free Press and host of American Black Journal. A Detroit native, Henderson is a graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School and the University of Michigan. He has worked previously as a reporter, editorial writer and editor at the Baltimore Sun, the Chicago Tribune and the Knight Ridder Washington bureau, where he covered the Supreme Court from 2003-2007. Henderson’s work has been honored with more than a dozen national awards, including for work that is published in the book, “Best Newspaper Writing 2001.” Henderson connects to readers and viewers with perspective and passionate opinion.
